Pressure ulcers are regarded as being in the top ten harms in the NHS in England. Investigations into the causes of pressure ulcer frequently demonstrate that variations from standard evidence-based practice contribute to the development of this significant patient harm.
The National Wound Care Strategy Programme has developed recommendations and a clinical pathway for the prevention and management of pressure ulcers and will be introducing the updates made to these following the consultation processĀ in a new webinar to take place 24th of July.
Alongside a Pressure Ulcer Best Practice Bundle (which is currently under development in partnership with the Nursing Directorate and Patient Safety Team), this work aims to reduce pressure ulcers and the harm associated with them and improve patient outcomes and experiences of care.
